LITTLE SOLDIERS' CHRISTMAS APPEAL

PLEASE DO NOT SENT FURTHER DONATIONS

Hello all,

I regret to inform everyone that Little Soldiers has been informed by the Philippines Red Cross - the intended recipients of the donations raised by the Little Soldiers' Christmas Appeal - of their refusal to accept our donations. In an email just received from their Fund Generation Dept., the Philippines Red Cross have stated that:

"We cannot engage in an agreement (to accept donations from Little Soldiers) if the toy soldiers (sold by Little Soldiers) are carrying guns."

I regret and apologise for any inconvenience or trouble this issue may have caused Little Soldiers' customers and Appeal donators. ALL donations will be refunded at the earliest possible time, dependant upon the co-operation of Paypal.

BUSHIDO NOW AVAILABLE!

Our Bushido pages are now live for you to browse, with all the Bushido range available for you to buy!

Follow this link below for the Bushido Main Page:

GCT Studios' great new skirmish game blends Japanese mythology with aggressive tabletop action!

Bushido is a game of savage battles, of cunning stratagems and last-ditch defences, and where debts of honour are paid in blood. In Bushido, the fate of the world hangs not on armies but on individual heroes; men and women of extraordinary capacity, attuned to the all-permeating life force known as Ki. This force is the very fabric of the universe, and those with the appropriate training or natural talent can tap into this energy source and gain seemingly superhuman powers. In the world of Bushido, the delicate tapestry of Ki – and thus the universe itself –is threatened by the forces of imbalance, and it is up to you to protect it – or help rip it apart. In a game of Bushido, nothing less than the universe itself is at stake. Are you ready for the challenge of the Way of the Warrior?

Bushido is an oriental fantasy tabletop miniature battle game for two players. Each player commands a force of no more than a handful of individuals, represented by 32mm metal miniatures. These forces meet on the battlefield and the commanders (the players, that is) try to outwit, outfight and outlive the opposing force and fulfil their battle objectives while denying the enemy theirs. Bushido is fast-moving, flexible and filled with strategizing, counter-strategizing and counter-counter-strategizing. Your tactical acumen is important, but so too is your ability to think on your feet. A typical game of Bushido takes between one and two hours to play – more if you are new to the game, less if you are a seasoned veteran.

There are currently four different warring factions to collect for Bushido - the warrior monks of the Temple of Ro-Kan, The monstrous horrors of The Savage Wave, the noble soldiery of the Prefecture of Ryu, and the twisted nightmares of the Cult of Yurei.

Each faction has its own starter box of 32mm scale miniatures, which comes complete with a mini-copy of the very simple and elegant Bushido rules.

A CALL TO ARMS: STARFLEET

COMING SOON TO LITTLE SOLDIERS!

Your Mission:

Go Boldly to the Stars
• Defend Honour
• Preserve Liberty
•
Discover New Worlds

 • Bring Your Crew Home - in Glory! •

It is with enormous pleasure that Little Soldiers proudly announces that we are bringing A Call to Arms: Star Fleet to Australian shores! In an agreement just concluded with Mongoose Publishing in the UK, Little Soldiers has secured the rights to this brand-new, ground-breaking miniatures gaming system, the latest in the highly successful A Call to Arms series.

Little Soldiers CEO (and die-hard Trekkie,) Martin Evans explains:

"Anyone who was remotely interested in sci-fi gaming in the 1980's either played the classic Starfleet Battles, or knew someone who did. It was that widespread. It was also the single most comprehensive space combat game ever created! In fact, it still is! Its only flaw is that it does not lend itself well to massed ship combat - but my friends and I were itching to fight some real fleet-sized actions.
"When I saw that Mongoose Publishing and Amarillo Design Bureau (the originators of Starfleet Battles,) were joining forces to create A Call to Arms: Star Fleet, I knew our prayers had been answered. The original A Call to Arms had effortlessly simulated the massive starship actions portrayed in the TV series Babylon 5.

Then, I discovered that not only would there be a new ruleset, but a range of beautifully detailed, 3D software designed, resin miniatures to go with it!

Immediately, I know Little Soldiers had to bring this range to Australia - I saw it as my duty, as a Starfleet offi- I mean, as a wargames distributor... ahem..."

A Call to Arms: Star Fleet
is a game of space combat in the Star Fleet Universe. Throughout humanity’s space-age history, the United Federation of Planets has come under pressure from many enemies. Now you can play out their confrontations on the tabletop with entire fleets drawn from the Federation, Klingon Empire, Romulan Empire or any one of the many other nations that range across the galaxy.

From skirmishes involving lone destroyers to universe-shaking clashes of mighty fleets, A Call to Arms: Star Fleet is your ticket to exciting battles in the depths of space.

Little Soldiers will have more news and previews over the coming months!

This product is a joint venture between Mongoose Publishing and Amarillo Design Bureau inc., under the strict terms of their contract with Paramount Pictures Corporation.

WHAT IS THE STARFLEET UNIVERSE?

The following information is based on the Federation Commander webpage.

As is readily apparent, the STAR FLEET UNIVERSE is based on The Original Series of Star Trek, and is produced under contracts with Paramount and with Franz Joseph Designs. While not necessarily "canon trek", the STAR FLEET UNIVERSE is a rich and vast playground.

The STAR FLEET UNIVERSE includes the Federation at its center, flanked by the Klingons and Kzintis to the "west", by the Tholians to the "south", and by the Romulans and Gorns to the "east". Beyond the Romulans and Gorns is the Inter-Stellar Concordium. Beyond the Klingons and Kzintis are the Lyrans and Hydrans, along with the WYN Star Cluster and the Lyran Democratic Republic. The Orion Pirates will steal from anybody, and the Andromedans (extra-galactic invaders!) attack everybody.

At the centre of the STAR FLEET UNIVERSE is the General War - a state of hostilities that involves, at different times, all of the space-faring nations of the known galaxy. The STAR FLEET UNIVERSE assumes that Star Trek's original series takes place during a time known as 'The Middle Years' (around Year 155.)

With very few exceptions, just about everyone fights everyone else in the STAR FLEET UNIVERSE, so a player is never short of opponents!

When Amarillo Design Bureau began publishing (back in 1979), Star Trek was a half-forgotten old television show popular as an afternoon re-run in college towns. (That's how this all started: The original game designer was playing a naval combat game while watching Star Trek re-runs between engineering school and supper time.) ADB produced much new material before the franchise returned to life, and have continued to be one of the two largest producers of new history, starships, characters, and technology - the other being Paramount itself! As Paramount began producing new material, the Star Trek Universe and STAR FLEET UNIVERSE began to diverge, but remained strongly linked.

The STAR FLEET UNIVERSE did not change to match the later incarnations of Star Trek, and Star Trek didn't change to match the game, but the driving force behind the genre continued to keep the two universes very close indeed. You'll find no Cardassians, Breen or Dominion, but there are Andromedans, Hydrans and Lyrans.

Here, the Klingons have smooth foreheads, and remain based (as the original Klingons were) on ruthless Soviets or Nazis, rather than mystical Ninja warriors (with lumpy heads - Martin). Romulans have cloaking devices (as do some Orion Pirates,) while Klingons do not. The Gorns (seen in only one original episode,) have become friends with the Federation, while the Tholians remain fiercely neutral.

All the starships seen here are renderings of the beautiful 3D models, which will soon be resin miniatures!
